Ordering food online to be delivered is commonplace in most cities, while companies running such business have seen rapid growth due to the expansion of mobile Internet and O2O (online-to-offline) services.

According to a report by Beijing-based iResearch Consulting Group, among the 11,927 people participating in the "O2O online take away" survey, 63.8 percent chose the official websites of fast-food chains, such as KFC, McDonald's and Burger King to buy take away food, while only 27.5 percent used domestic third party platforms.

Some 76.8 percent of college students chose third party platforms said the report.

Among the top 10 favorite third party E-takeaways, 70.5 percent of respondents used an online platform called ele.me while 64.2 percent picked second-ranked waimai.meituan.com.
