The deaths occurred after a man set off an improvised explosive device in the foyer of the concert hall just after the singer had left the stage.

Grande tweeted: “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don't have words.”

The singer has suspended her international tour. She was due to play in London’s 02 Arena on Thursday before heading to continental Europe.

Scooter Braun, 23-year-old American Grande’s manager, expressed sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless attack. “We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act. We are thankful for the selfless service tonight of Manchester’s first responders who rushed towards danger tonight to save lives.”

Grande became famous on the Nickelodeon series, Victorious, before embarking on a music career.
