Putin talks about plans for post-retirement life

Xinhua | Updated: 2013-04-07 08:58

MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin says he would like to keep himself busy with literature and jurisprudence after he retires from public life.

"I do expect that after my retirement from political life and public service, I will have an opportunity to busy myself with other things and challenges," Putin said in an interview with a German broadcaster posted Friday on his presidential website.

Putin said he likes jurisprudence and literature.

"I do hope I will have a chance to occupy myself with these without any link to my public service duties," he said.

Other issues such as public projects and sports were also on the president's list.

"Every normal person tries to plan in advance. Moreover, I am far from being the longest-serving politician," the 61-year-old president said.

Putin, who served as president in 2000-2008, became prime minister after Dmitry Medvedev took over the presidency and was reelected president to a six-year term in 2012.
