Sesame Street, the Emmy Award-winning children's TV program, entered the China market in 1983. Muppet characters, such as Big Bird, Elmo, and Cookie Monster, began engaging a large audience of Chinese children eager to learn. In recent years, the Chinese government has encouraged expanding the country's animation market. Many people expect China will become the world's largest animation market in terms of audience size and production volume.
