Jiangxi, home of the world’s largest umbrella

At 14.39 meters high and 22.90 meters in diameter, an umbrella in Jiujiang city, Jiangxi province set a Guinness world record on Aug 3 as the world’s largest umbrella.

The huge umbrella weighs 5.7 tons and can resist a strong gale. It can open and close automatically and the shaded area, when it's fully stretched, is 418 square meters.

The previous record was set in India by an umbrella that was 10.97 meters high and 17.06 meters in diameter.
