Lugu Lake is located in the middle of Ningliang Yi autonomous county of Yunnan province and Yanyuan county of Sichuan province.

The lake, which is at an altitude of 2,690 meters, is acclaimed for its natural landscape and mysterious Mosuo culture.

The indigenous Mosuo people maintain a unique matriarchal system till today.
