BEIJING - Xie Yalong, a former senior Chinese soccer official in custody for bribery, has been ousted as a member of the All-China Sports Federation (ACSF).

The decision was made at the annual meeting of the ACSF standing committee on Wednesday.

Xie, a much-denied head of the Chinese Football Association (CFA), took charge of the Chinese Football Administrative Center in 2005. However, he could not stop the continuing decline of Chinese soccer. The Chinese men's team failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals and even did not survive the group stage in the Beijing Olympics.

In March 2009, Xie stepped down and got a new assignment in the China Sports Industry Group. Xie's successor Nan Yong was arrested in a crackdown on soccer corruption early last year.

On October 5, 2010, police confirmed the arrest of Xie. Eleven days later, he was sacked as the chairman of the China Sports Industry Group.
