Annual fair brings 800 companies from across the world together

The upcoming Internet Plus Expo in Foshan in South China's Guangdong province, will focus on the industrial internet and intelligent manufacturing in a bid to foster local industrial upgrading.

The China (Guangdong) International Internet Plus Exposition, organized by CEBIT, a world leader in digital events, will be held at Guangdong Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center from Oct 16 to 19.

Covering an area of 55,000 square meters, the annual fair, one of the most important internet shows in China, will gather 800 leading companies from home and abroad to showcase the latest applications and emerging developments in seven major areas: cutting-edge Internet Plus technologies, digital business, digital life, innovation and entrepreneurship, intelligent manufacturing, robots and robot competitions.

"This year's expo will ride on the latest trends of the industry, focusing on technologies and solutions regarding industrial internet and intelligent manufacturing," said Liu Guoliang, managing director of organizer Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai.

Rising strength

The drone sector has achieved remarkable growth in China, thanks to improving artificial intelligent technologies. "China has been an important market for application in the unmanned aerial vehicle sector, and the industrial unmanned aerial vehicle sector is in a stage of healthy development," Liu said.

The Shenzhen UAV Industry Association has organized 10 companies and institutes in the sector, including Shenzhen Smart Drone UAV and HighGreat, to display their latest achievements at the expo, organizers said.

Foshan, a major manufacturing hub in South China, is actively seeking applications of industrial internet to improve the quality and efficiency.

Experts from Weidmuller, a globally leading industrial connectivity solution provider, will demonstrate a smart production line for control cabinet assembly and wiring at the Robotation Academy of Foshan during the expo, providing a chance for local factories to experience how a smart factory would change their business.

The expo will also showcase connectivity between helicopter companies and medical institutes, police, firefighting and forestry departments as well as power companies. The technologies of real-time surveillance, emergency response and command platforms make it possible to build an air rescue network to serve the rising needs for urban emergency rescue.

Kingwing, a domestic leader in air rescue, will make its debut at the expo this year, displaying its multifunctional helicopters, organizers said.

The commercial application of 5G technologies will be another highlight of the expo, attracting major telecommunication operators of China - China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom - to showcase their latest products and solutions.

China Telecom will discuss how it participated in the efforts of the Foshan government in building smart and digitalized administration with its 5G business, cloud computing, big data and intelligent broadband services.

The government of Foshan recently issued a provisional action plan to accelerate the development of 5G from 2019 to 2022.

It aims to become a pioneering city for the application of 5G technologies, with which the manufacturing sector will gain new momentum toward high quality, local officials said.

To fulfill the goal, the city plans to build 13,400 5G base stations by the end of 2022, covering the city's central area and its major towns and communities.

China Mobile will focus on the latest 5G applications in terms of industrial manufacturing, social management, smart life, smart family and other smart experiences.

One example includes a monitoring system display for energy consumption, which will remotely control and monitor the lighting, air conditioners, sensors and water, electricity and gas meters via a cloud platform. The system will help save energy and cut emissions.

China Unicom will exhibit its innovation capabilities in the fields of augmented reality education, multichannel interactive live broadcasting, smart city, big data for government affairs, industrial clusters and cloud platform all powered by 5G technologies.

Overseas heavyweights

The expo, which in its fifth session this year, has exerted greater influence on the global professional community.

In the Germany pavilion, companies including Wibu-Systems, TUV SUD, Fraunhofer, Abas Software, Alugha and Software AG will exhibit their technologies and solutions in the industrial internet and smart manufacturing sectors.

Wibu-Systems will focus on global digital copyright management and Software AG will provide strategies for corporate digitalization transition. TUV SUD will promote the digitalization transition and the realization of the information security value, according to organizers.

In the US pavilion, there will be seven high-tech companies in smart manufacturing, including Bransys, Columba Industries and Chinawise USA.

The expo will also introduce "Scale 11", a platform for domestic startups to meet and exchange with international peers.
