China's top tribunal has just released ten typical cases about "core socialist values" as advocated by the Communist Party of China and inheritance of traditional culture.

Guo Feng, deputy director of the research office with the Supreme People's Court of China, said at a briefing held on Aug 22 in Beijing that courts of various levels in China have been actively promoting socialist core values since the release of a national guidance on Oct. 12, 2015.

Stories about model lawyers, law-related films and television programs, and typical cases were used to build a positive social environment and promote such values.

Guo said that over 1,000 typical cases have been released by courts across China so far, promoting public order under rule of law with Chinese characteristics.

Tribunals of different levels in China have published and implemented judicial policies in a timely manner, fostering a sound environment for building core socialist values.

Chinese courts have improved labor law trials and proceedings related to environmental and resources disputes, according to Guo. He said that in this way, the rights and interests of the people are well protected.

Guo said that courts of various levels in China will improve the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR), and safeguard innovation-driven development.

From the end of October 2015 to the end of June 2016, courts across the country heard and resolved 90,832 IPR cases.

As a next step, China will further simplify judicial practice and promote an automated case-filing registry system, build more service centers and "make justice serve the people", said Guo.

He added that those who lose credibility will be punished in accordance with the law and a good judicial environment -- for cultivating and practicing core socialist values -- will be formed.
