Introduction of Sichuan Opera: With its long history, Sichuan Opera is a popular national and folk art in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. Sichuan Opera consists of high-pitched music, Kunshan Opera melodies, huqin (Chinese fiddle) music, low-pitched tunes and Sichuan dengxi (a folk playlet). Many elements were introduced into Sichuan from other provinces between the late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the mid-Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
The modern Sichuan Opera Jinzi was among the top 10 dramas of the “Chinese stage art quality project,” and has won the Culture Award from the Ministry of Culture and Chinese Art Festival award. Plot: In the early years of the Republic of China, Huzi is framed and put in jail by Jiao Yanwang, who had murdered someone for money. Jinzi, Huzi’s lover, is forced to marry Jiao Daxing, Jiao Yanwang’s son, and is tortured by Jiao Daxing’s mother. A decade later, Huzi escapes from prison and decides to get revenge. When Huzi and Jinzi meet again, they are still in love. However, Jiao Yanwang has died, so Huzi kills his innocent son, Jiao Daxing, regardless of Jinzi’s protests. While fleeing, Huzi commits suicide, leaving Jinzi alone.
