Four primary school students from the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province have been selected as reporters and arrived in Beijing on March 6 to participate in the ongoing sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Lu Xuan, from Wuxi Donglin Primary School, was excited to attend the annual 'two sessions' and shared her dream of becoming a CCTV anchor to brighten people up and popularize core values.

Wu Qitai from Wuxi Nanchang Street Primary School who wants to be a journalist when he grows up, prepared many questions for deputies and members of the "two sessions", like how to give more interesting classes to children and how to safeguard the rights and interests of the youth.

Similar to Wu, Xun Gu from Wuxi Jiyu Experimental Primary School also yearns for a career in journalism. "The experience this time helps me gain insight into the career," said Xun, "I will find out more meaningful things in school and life in the future and write them down with my pen."

Junior students joining the "two sessions" have triggered heated discussion among local schools. As Zhang Zijun from Wuxi Nanhu Primary School was given the chance to join the "two sessions", the school launched a special activity to collect good ideas where students put forward various suggestions concerning study, social life and city development.

Mo Yan: cut elementary education length

Mo Yan, member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Nobel laureate in Literature 2012, advised that the length of elementary education should be cut from 12 years to 10 years, adding that middle and senior high school entrance examination should be removed. Mo said the move would help to cut overloaded amounts of schoolwork and relieve some of the stresses of both students and parents.

Liu Xiaocui: combat school violence

Liu Xiaocui, NPC deputy, proposed the introduction of anti-school violence laws making children more accountable, as currently those under 14 bear no legal liability.

Shu Anna: Increase salaries for elementary education teachers

Despite the improvement of infrastructure in primary and middle schools, the wages of teachers are still at a respectively low level which is not conducive to stimulating working enthusiasm. Shu, member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, expected actions to raise teachers' salaries like setting various education awards to give credits to teachers with strong teaching ability, promoting the healthy development of the country's education sector.

Yang Juanjuan: improve male to female ratio among rural schools teachers

Yang Juanjuan, NPC deputy from Xinhua County, Hunan province, said the county's male teachers only account for 18 percent of the total, with the proportion continually decreasing in recent years. According to yang, students cannot build a healthy character if they are surrounded with female teachers all the time, especially for boys as such environment may cause male feminization. Both boys and girls should develop their persistence and courage in growing process.
