The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area's charity foundation has collected 163,900 yuan ($26,780) as of Aug 30, before the school year begins, to benefit 114 students from poor families. Each student will get 500 to 3,000 yuan for school bills.
When the donation for students started this year, kind-hearted people from all walks of life came to contribute, including staff from enterprises and public institutions. An elderly man, Mo Wensui, was the first to give 1,000 yuan. Since late July, the foundation has received 88,500 yuan from individuals and 59 institutions.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
