The Taiwan Strait Tourism Association and the Hubei Provincial Tourism Bureau organized an activity in Wuhan to promote individual visits to Taiwan, hubeitour.gov.cn reported.

The Taiwan delegation focused on the attractions of the island and the friendly local residents during the activity, which was held on Aug 22.

They also held discussions with representatives of Hubei's aviation industry and travel agencies on how to explore the market potential of Wuhan residents visiting Taiwan as individual tourists.

Xu Yong, deputy director of Hubei Provincial Tourism Bureau, said that a total of nearly 90,000 Hubei residents visited Taiwan last year and Hubei received 300,000 tourists from the island.

Xu also said he hopes the two sides will increase communication on issues concerning the aviation industry and that they will explore more opportunities for cooperation on policies and media resources.

Representatives from Taiwan gave a presentation about scenic spots such as Kinmen, Mazu and Penghu, and also suggested various itineraries for individual visitors.
