Gao Weidong assists the mayor in the following affairs: agricultural, rural area, poverty alleviation, Guiyang National Agricultural Science and Technology Park, communication, water conservation, meteorological, flood, drought, forest fire, immigration, "Three county towns, one city" construction, business, food, commodity prices, market economy standardization, micro-enterprise development, port, and export zones, and, in addition, assists in the day-to-day safe production supervisory, administrative work and is in charge of maintaining stability, complaints, and micro-enterprises development. He is also in charge of the following municipal work areas: communications bureau, agriculture committee, water resource bureau, Guiyang Supply and Marketing Cooperative, business bureau, pricing bureau and of coordinating business of the city’s Communications and Water Conservancy Development Investment (Group) Co, Guiyang Urban Development Investment Co, and Agricultural Guarantee Co and major Party and government projects.
Other work includes the municipal weather bureau, tobacco monopoly bureau, public road bureau, industry and commerce bureau, industry and commerce federation, and Chamber of Commerce.
