A bank in Pingtan welcomed a new lobby manager on April 2, but there was no need to show the newbie how to work the coffee machine or help it schedule a lunch break because the employee's name is Lanlan and it's a robot.

The intelligent robot perhaps represents the future of banking services and should help to shorten waiting times for customers. Lanlan is able to perform a series of useful functions such as greet customers, guide them around the bank, and help with business consultation requests.

Additionally, Lanlan is able to handle some non-cash business operations such as opening up a mobile banking account and activate a bank card.
