An inspection group from the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSGL) visited Pingtan county, Fujian province, on Wednesday, April 24, to investigate its development.

The group was led by Huang Zhixian, vice-president of the TDSGL. The league has paid visits to Pingtan many times to explore new ways of cross-Straits collaboration and boost mechanism innovations in hopes that Pingtan can play a bigger role in cross-Straits communication.

Huang praised Pingtan's achievement, saying he was very impressed. He also pledged to continue to support Pingtan's development and facilitate relative departments to make policies for further progress.

Huang hopes Pingtan can make use of its geographic advantages to strengthen ties with Taiwan and become a bridge in cross-Straits communication.

The inspection team visited Jidiao Dock, TPK Pingtan branch, Xinfuyang (Happy Ocean) reclaimed sand land, the petty market opening to Taiwan, and the high-speed passenger ferry terminal.

The TDSGL is one of eight legally recognized political parties in China that follow the direction of the Communist Party of China and are members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. It was formed in Hong Kong in November 1947 by members of the Taiwan Communist Party.
