This is the first year Anhui will carry out a 666,667-hectare forest development project. On Feb 16, the first workday after Spring Festival, Secretary Zhang Baoshun and Governor Li Bin led other officials to take part in a tree-planting activity along the banks of Chaohu Lake.
The participation of various departments served as a powerful indicator advancing the 666,667-hectare forest development project. During Tree-Planting Week, cadres from Party and government organs above the county level participated in 477 tree-planting activities and planted 2.96 million trees.
In order to encourage farmers to plant trees and motivate citizens, governments at all levels issued a series of favorable policies. Financial departments in Hefei invested 750 million yuan ($121 million) to plant trees this year and introduced 462 tree-planting enterprises with a contracted tree-planting area of 19,667 hectares.
Statistics show that the tree-planting area of enterprises and forestry cooperatives across Anhui will account for 80 percent of the total in spring this year.
