有評(píng)論認(rèn)為，中國(guó)大陸至少有兩本情趣典雅、適合高品位文化人閱讀的人文雜志：《萬(wàn)象》和《書城》。日前，因資金短缺遭遇休刊變故的精英人文雜志《書城》和《萬(wàn)象》絕處逢生，再次出現(xiàn)在各大書店的柜臺(tái)前。

magazine”來(lái)表示，這里著重談一下單詞highbrow。與intellectual相比，highbrow的語(yǔ)義范圍更具體，更側(cè)重形容有“高深”學(xué)問(wèn)或文化素養(yǎng)的人，如They
only attend highbrow events such as the ballet or the opera.（他們只欣賞高雅藝術(shù)，如芭蕾和歌劇。）
在實(shí)際運(yùn)用中，highbrow有時(shí)也用來(lái)指“自炫淵博的知識(shí)分子”，這時(shí)，他的貶抑色彩不言而喻。與highbrow相對(duì)的一個(gè)詞是lowbrow（庸俗、粗俗、教養(yǎng)淺薄的人）。
