67 airlines raise fuel surcharge

2011-05-03 15:47

Sixty-seven domestic and foreign aviation companies have raised fuel surcharges in recent months, International Finance News reported Tuesday.

Dragon Air and Cathay Pacific raised the amount of money they charge passengers for fuel – from 164 yuan to 188 yuan – for flights between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. The price jump went into effect Sunday, according to the newspaper.

Ji Shaohong is an employee with Ctrip.com, a popular online travel reservations website. He said the surge is mainly due to "the rise of oil prices on the international market", the newspaper reported.
