Beijing, briefly referred to as Jing, is the capital city of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It is one of the four municipalities of the PRC, which are at the same administrative level with the other 33 provinces in China. A high-tech and neo-economic centre, Beijing has formed a high-tech industrial development structure which is dominated by electronic information, optical-mechanical-electrical integration, bio-engineering, neo-pharmaceuticals, and other neo-technology oriented materials. Beijing is the largest consumer market and one of the largest import and export hubs of the country.
In 2007, Beijing's GDP totaled 1.37779 tillion yuan.
北京簡(jiǎn)稱京，是中華人民共和國(guó)首都，是33個(gè)省級(jí)市政府之一。北京也是高科技和新經(jīng)濟(jì)中心，已形成以電子信息、光機(jī)電一體化、生物工程和新醫(yī)藥、新材料等新興材料為主導(dǎo)的高新技術(shù)產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展格局。全市也是全國(guó)最大的消費(fèi)市場(chǎng)和進(jìn)出口岸之一。
2010年北京地區(qū)生產(chǎn)總值13777.9億元。
Primary industry accounts for RMB9.799billion, secondary industry RMB202.651 billion, and tertiary industry RMB476.181 billion, with a composition ratio of the three industries at 1.4%、29.5%、69.1% respectively. The average annual salary per capita for employees in Beijing is 34,191 RMB, with the annual spending level at 14,835 RMB. Above-college-level educated population accounts for 24.45% of the total. Beijing has established the grand and convenient transportation network, which consists of subway, expressways and metro light tracks. The tertiary industry in respect of finance, commercial service, transportation, culture and tourism industries, is becoming an important and integral part of Beijing's economy. Grain production has become a growth point of the capital's economy.
