The Forum for Asian Deans of Journalism and Communication took place in Shanghai on Wednesday, bringing together experts from universities and the media industry to discuss current and future perspectives of Asian journalism and communication.

"The collaboration of journalism and communication is important for the development of Asia as a large community, so we have to share our opinions through this forum on how to face the opportunities and challenges in Asian journalism and communication together," Guo Weimin, vice-minister of the State Council Information Office, said at the event's opening ceremony.

Ten government officials, 46 Chinese representatives from 30 universities and colleges, and 40 foreign experts from 33 universities in 21 countries participated in the one-day forum.
