6,880 drug-related crimes handled

Chinese police have handled 6,880 drug-related crimes and seized some 8,400 suspects since an anti-drug campaign was launched by the Ministry of Public Security on Jan 24. About 5,400 kg of narcotics has been confiscated, according to a statement released by the ministry on Monday. A total of 119 drug rings were busted and 128 entertainment venues thought to be involved in the drug trade were closed or regulated, said the statement.
