Billion yuan

The amount of donations by the top 100 philanthropists in 2012 reached 64.9 billion yuan ($10.42 billion), five times the amount in 2011, according to a list of philanthropists released by the China Philanthropy Research Institute with the Beijing Normal University. Huang Nubo, chairman of Beijing Zhongkun Investment Group, who pledged a 50 billion yuan donation for Peking University, topped the list.
