High-level meeting calls on attendees to reject isolationism, support multilateral trade system

The Belt and Road Initiative serves the interests of people of all countries and provides a platform for building a community with a shared future for mankind, political party leaders from more than 120 countries said in a joint statement issued in Beijing on Sunday.

They voiced their "earnest expectations and best wishes" for realizing the Belt and Road in the Beijing Initiative document adopted at the closing session of the Communist Party of China in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting.

In the statement, the leaders from nearly 300 political parties and organizations said forging a new form of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice and win-win cooperation is imperative to the building of the community with a shared future for mankind and a better world.

They called on countries to stay away from isolationism and exclusionism and support a multilateral trade system, and they commended the CPC's efforts and contribution in promoting the building of the community with a shared future and a better world.

Building the community and a better world requires political parties and leaders to undertake their historic duties and carry forward the spirit of hard work, State Councilor Yang Jiechi said at the closing session.

Also, the leaders should have a sense of innovation, always act with a problem-oriented approach, and create platforms for exchanges, Yang added.

In his keynote speech on Friday, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, elaborated on the CPC's idea of building the community with a shared future, and showed determination to boost world development and prosperity, Yang said.

Various attending political parties spoke highly of Xi's speech hailed the CPC's historical contribution and expect China's further navigating role, Yang added.

Pierre Ngolo, general-secretary of the Congolese Labor Party and president of the Senate of the Republic of Congo, said China fulfills its duties efficiently, promotes unity, friendship and safety among people in the world and works for enabling everyone to benefit from development.

"The Belt and Road is one of the best examples," he said, adding that the unprecedented high-level meeting, transcending the self-interests of the various political parties gathered, charts the course for the community with a shared future.

The meeting will become "a new impetus" for development in the world, he said.

Dashzeveg Amarbayasgalan, general secretary of the ruling Mongolian People's party, said the meeting has had sufficient discussions on co-building the Belt and Road.

Views have been exchanged effectively and the meeting has turned a new page for exchanges among political parties in the world, he said.

Dmitry Novikov, deputy chairman of the Central Committee of Communist Party of the Russian Federation, said the Belt and Road Initiative is promising in reinforcing economic cooperation among countries and will boost the upgrading of political and cultural cooperation among them.

China is the world's second-largest economy, it has huge potential politically and economically, and it benefits the Chinese people and facilitates efforts in building an equitable world of justice and allowing every country to have a share of development, Novikov said.

The Beijing Initiative will also introduce more possibilities to bilateral cooperation, such as those between China and Russia, he added.
