Timeline
June 2013: South Korean President Park Geun-hye offers to return remains of Chinese who died during Korean War (1950-53) in a gesture of goodwill during her visit to Beijing.
March 28, 2014: Remains of 437 soldiers returned. Such returns to be carried out before Tomb Sweeping Day each year, which falls in early April.
October 29, 2014: First returned remains buried at the Korean War Martyrs’ Cemetery in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province.
March 20, 2015: Remains of 68 soldiers returned, with handover ceremony held at Incheon airport in South Korea.
March 31, 2016: Remains of 36 soldiers returned after being excavated in South Korea from March to November last year.
