More than 10 large-scale settlement sites from the Bronze Age were found in Mulei county, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, China News Service reported on May 19.

The ancient settlement sites were found during an archaeological survey made by Wu Xinhua, an archaeologist with the Archaeology Institute under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and his team in early May in the county.

The settlement sites are on the hills covering an area of 200 sq km, and the sites were round trenches with diameters from 40 to 300 meters. The newly discovered sites, from the middle and late periods of the Bronze Age, provide new information on the grassland culture and Bronze Age archaeological culture in Xinjiang.
