Special coverage:Files shed new light on Japanese atrocities

Four files released this time are concerning Japan’s suppression of the Anti-Japanese Amalgamated Army of the Northeast. They are scattered in the files titled “Counter Measures on Thoughts Monthly”, “Public Security along the Railway Weekly”, and “Special Weekly”. These archives recorded how the heroes against Japanese aggression like Yang Jingyu, Wei Zhengmin, Chen Hanzhang and Zhao Shangzhi were killed by the Japanese military.

The contents of these archives mainly include:

Information on the locations and numbers of the anti-Japanese army in Tonghua and Jilin, and on the battles between the anti-Japanese army and the Japanese troops in Mengjiang County;

Information on the killing of Yang Jingyu, a leader of the Anti-Japanese Amalgamated Army of the Northeast;

Information on the battle near Jiapigou in the 7th district of Huadian County between the Japanese troop and 11 soldiers of the First Route Army of Anti-Japanese Amalgamated Army of the Northeast led by Vice Commander Wei Zhengmin and the glorious death of Wei Zhengmin and seven soldiers;

Information on the fierce battle between the Japanese suppression troop and 15 or 16 members of Chen Hanzhang’s unit who were found around Ludao Station of Rumen-Jiamusi Railway on 8 December 1940, and the heroic death of Chen Hanzhang and four other soldiers; and

Information on the killing of Zhao Shangzhi on his way to the Soviet Union in a battle with the Japanese and Manchurian police forces and the placing of his body in the police station of Xingshan Township.
