BEIJING - Two German tourists who were injured in a road crash on Monday in North China have been transferred to Hong Kong for further treatment, tourism authorities said.

The two, Thomas Neucrer and Dorothea Hess, were transferred to Hong Kong on Thursday, and another four Germans were still receiving treatment in two hospitals in Beijing, said a written statement by Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development issued late Friday.

Among them, Bettina Johanna Deubel, who was in Beijing's Jishuitan Hospital, needs to undergo a craniotomy for her serious injuries, according to the statement.

Six people, including five German nationals and a Chinese driver, died and 14 others were injured after a tourist bus rear-ended a container truck and caught fire around 8:30 am Monday along an expressway near Beijing.

The bus, carrying 19 German passengers, was arranged by the Beijing-based China Youth Travel Service.
