The National Development and Reform Commission has started seeking public opinion on a new draft catalogue of key products and services provided by the country's seven strategic emerging industries.

The catalogue includes key products of the seven emerging industries — energy saving and environmental protection; high-end manufacturing; new materials and new-energy vehicles; new-generation information technology; biotechnology; and new energy.

The government wants the industries to generate 8 percent of GDP in 2015 and 15 percent by 2020, according to a national development plan for strategic emerging industries unveiled in July.

The deadline for soliciting opinions is Oct 25, according to the NDRC statement.
