Photo gala kicks off in Changsha The 2010 International Orange Photo Festival kicked off in the famous Orange Isle of Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province?on Oct 22. More than 2,500 pictures from about 100 photographers are presented and a series of lectures and competitions related to photography held. About the Festival |
Theme: "Life and Dream" As?the first international web photo exhibition held in the provincial capital city, the 2010 IOPF will hold?14 theme photo exhibitions in Changsha, some of them making their debut in China. The festival takes place on the Orange Isle, which was made famous in a poem written by?late Chinese leader Mao Zedong to praise the ambition of youngsters and their heroic spirit. A series of activities related to photography will be held, including an exhibition of the winners' entries, lectures from international professional photographers, workshop training and a folk culture photo exhibit. The 14 theme exhibitions deal with a wide variety of subjects and include award-winning images shot in more than 100 countries, providing a wonderful visual feast for visitors. They include a Pablo Bartholomew exhibit, a Stern Magazine exhibit and a PDXF12 exhibit from Japan. Participants Attendees include Bartholomew (Indian winner of a World Press Photo award), Francoise Caller (president of the Angkor Photography Festival), Japanese photographer Masaru Goto, D J Clark (a professor at Bolton University in the UK and teacher of World Press Photo photographers) and Jim Dooley (teacher for Alexis Fund and former photo editor of Newsday in New York). |
