In line with its mission to become a global leader in the software and outsourcing industry - a role proposed by Premier Wen Jiabao - the local government has initiated a strategic plan to develop city's software and outsourcing industry.
By 2020, the park's management is looking to still further growth for "China's silicon valley" - with 400,000 employees, 300 billion yuan worth sales revenue and $10 billion export revenue. Although the world economy is still reeling from the impact of the financial crisis, the park's progress, as an important economic area and home to a number of international businesses, has continued unabated. It has succeeded in attracting a substantial number of global companies, including 52 companies from the world top 500 businesses. It has been home to the top three performing businesses in terms of national software exports for the last five years. Along with the "Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt Development Plan ", now designated as a national development strategy, the Lushun South Road Software Industrial Belt has established itself as a core project for the area's commercial future. With its continued high levels of growth and a number of unprecedented development opportunities before it, the park is well on its way to being a leading global software and service-outsourcing center. In light of the huge progress made by the park, it is now jostling to be ranked along existing international software and service outsourcing centers, such as Silicon Valley, Bangalore and Dublin. Its years of continuous success has given considerable weight to its claims to be "China's Silicon Valley" and to be a serious contender to as the global number one for the software and service outsourcing industry in the near future. The park has a planned development area of 153 sq km and already has 2,500 registered companies, including 64 of the world's top 500 businesses. It was established in March 1991. |
