Guide found alive after flash flood in east China

Updated: 2009-08-16 15:13 HANGZHOU: A tour guide, who was among the four people swept away in flash flood in east China Saturday, was found alive Sunday, a spokesman with the Jingning county government told Xinhua. Chen Jianchao, 29, was knocked unconscious when he struck his head on a rock after being swept away in the flood in Jingning She Autonomous County, Zhejiang Province. Rescuers found him at 4 a.m. Sunday and took him to hospital, where his condition was stable, a spokesman with the county government told Xinhua.
Chen, Liu Yujie and Liu Nuo were swept away trying to rescue Zhang Lin. The group were hit by the flash flood at a scenic gorge at about 3 p.m. Saturday in the county in Lishui City. Rescuers are searching for the missing people. The local government has also arranged accommodation for the other 15 travelers in a local village. The 18 people organized the tour themselves through an outdoors club, a spokesman for the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration said Saturday. |
