Lenovo Mobile to launch TD-SCDMA handsetsBy ()
Updated: 2007-06-27 16:36 Lenovo Group unit Lenovo Mobile Communication Technology Ltd plans to bring to market handsets compliant with China's homegrown TD-SCDMA mobile standard before the end of the year, a company official said. "We will begin selling TD-SCDMA handsets a few months later," said Li Jianquan, a senior officer with Lenovo Mobile. Although the industry regulator has now agreed to third-generation mobile standards for WCDMA and CDMA2000 technologies in addition to China's own TD SCDMA, Lenovo Mobile will continue to focus on developing TD SCDMA handsets, Li said. Li noted that the company has set up a work group to provide technical support and customer services for TD-SCDMA handset users. The company expects to provide third-generation (3G) mobile services in 2008, Li added. (For more biz stories, please visit Industry Updates)
