Shanghai Disney Resort celebrates Spring Festival with charity, traditional activities
Shanghai Disney Resort is hosting a series of traditional Chinese festivities to celebrate Spring Festival and usher in the Year of the Snake.
The traditional Chinese lion eye-dotting ceremony held on Wednesday morning saw Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in newly designed outfits for the Year of the Snake. The duo danced to the rhythm of Dance of the Golden Snake as part of the celebration.
Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, joined Mickey and Minnie in the eye-dotting ritual.
The resort's Spring Festival celebrations will run through Feb 14, offering themed decorations, shows, merchandise and festive culinary experiences. As the only Disney destination with the world's first and only Zootopia-themed land, the resort is also highlighting Walt Disney Animation Studios film Zootopia 2 with appearances by the character Gary the snake.
A seasonally limited nighttime show, Spring Festival Celebration: Our Families, will take place from the eve of Spring Festival until the Lantern Festival on Feb 12. The show features holiday-themed projections, including Gary the snake as well as the Chinese character for snake.
