6.1M PASSENGER TRIPS
The passenger throughput of Beijing Daxing International Airport is expected to reach 6.1 million, up 9 percent year-on-year, during the ongoing Spring Festival travel rush, according to the airport. The world's largest annual human migration lasts 40 days and will continue through Feb 22. During the period, the airport is expected to see an average passenger throughput of around 150,000 per day.
SURGE IN INBOUND TOURISM
Beijing saw 3.94 million inbound tourist trips in 2024, up 186.8 percent year-on-year and equivalent to 88.9 percent of the total for 2019, said local authorities. Of these trips, 729,000 were made by residents from China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, up 10.3 percent compared to that in 2019, while 3.21 million were made by foreigners, 85.1 percent of the figure for 2019, data from the Beijing Bureau of Culture and Tourism show.
