Luo Baoming, former deputy head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China over serious violations of the Party disciplines and national laws, according to a decision by the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs on Friday.

The decision has been announced and disclosed by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision online.

While finding that Luo lost his political stance and was in improper long-term relations with political frauds, the commissions also discovered that he organized superstitious activities, causing a huge financial loss and severely damaging the political environment.

According to the announcement, Luo accepted huge amounts of money and connived with his family member seeking benefits for others in business operation and job adjustment. He also abused his power and engaged in power-money trades.

The commissions said they had confiscated Luo's illicit gains, adding that his suspected violations of the national laws will be transferred to prosecutors for further investigation.

Public information shows that Luo, 72, a Tianjin native, started working in May 1969 and joined the Party in August 1971.

After working in Tianjin for decades, Luo went to Hainan province to serve various positions in 2001. In February 2007, he became the provincial governor.

Two years later, he came to the NPC, serving as the deputy head of the committee between March 2017 and March 2023.

Last year, he turned himself in to the commissions and received disciplinary and supervisory investigations.
