The Sixth Daliangshan Theater Festival concluded on Nov 19 after 12 days of staging around 100 theater productions from 11 countries. The festival featured traditional performing arts exchanges and hosted master classes.
An exchange event took place on Nov 10, showcasing performing arts from China and countries of the League of Arab States including Algeria, Morocco, Jordan, Iraq and Sudan. Chinese artists demonstrated traditional opera forms such as Kunqu and Yuju.
On Nov 11, a panel discussion themed "Theater Connecting the World" brought together artists from over 20 countries joined by the festival's co-founders including veteran actor Pu Cunxin, playwright Li Ting, poet Jidi Majia and the director general of the International Theatre Institute ITI Tobias Biancone.
The five-day intensive theater master classes were attended by theater students from across China for in-person instruction by three theater practitioners. At the "graduation performance" on Nov 13, the participants presented the fruits of their learning.
