Xinjiang students get up close look at drone technology
Students from the Second Primary School in Bachu county of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region recently got to be close with latest drone technologies and their real-life applications through a vivid lesson.
The lesson included a combination of instruction, interactive discussions, and hands-on outdoor demonstrations. In the classroom, drone experts introduced students to the basics of drones, explaining their development, classifications, applications, and flight principles in an engaging, easy-to-understand manner.
Outdoors, professional drone users demonstrated basic drone operations, including aerial photography techniques, with drones soaring and performing maneuvers against the sky.
In addition, under the guidance of the pilots, they had the opportunity to try flying the drones themselves, experiencing the excitement of controlling the technology.
"This event not only provided valuable learning opportunities but also enriched the students' after-school life," said Wang Li, a teacher who runs the school's interest group. "It allowed the children to explore new knowledge, interact with technology, and fuel their enthusiasm for science."
The event aims to ignite students' interest in innovation and create a dynamic technological atmosphere on campus, said Xinjiang Power Transmission and Distribution Co, the event's organizer.
Responsible for drone patrol operations over the region's ultra-high voltage grid, Xinjiang Power Transmission and Distribution Co has a drone configuration rate of 2.1 drones per 100 kilometers and operates a comprehensive big data platform for intelligent inspections.
Going forward, it plans to collaborate with local schools, communities, and educational institutions to continue fostering a passion for science and technology among young people, it said.
