World's top universities to compete at China International College Students' Innovation Competition
The final of the 2024 China International College Students' Innovation Competition will be held on Tuesday at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The event aims to inspire students from various disciplines to innovate and effectively promote independent talent development and research innovation.
Co-hosted by 12 departments, including the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the competition has attracted a total of 5.14 million projects from 5,406 schools in 153 countries and regions since its launch in May. A total of 20.83 million participants have signed up to compete.
Among them, 1,993 foreign schools will participate, including 152 of the world's top universities such as Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, MIT and Cambridge.
In addition to the 821,000 projects in the New Engineering category, 192,000 projects in the New Medicine category, 301,000 projects in the New Agriculture category and 620,000 projects in the New Humanities category, the competition has also introduced the Artificial Intelligence+ category, attracting 326,000 projects to apply this year.
To open up and expand channels for excellent projects, the event also organized a resource-matching meeting on Tuesday which revealed the total intended investment amount for participating projects in the competition to be 6.803 billion yuan ($954 million).
Furthermore, the World University Student Innovation Forum and the establishment ceremony of the World University Student Innovation Alliance will also take place at Shanghai Jiao Tong University on Tuesday. Approximately 350 invited guests, including representatives from the United Nations and presidents of well-known universities from China and abroad, will attend the event.
