Woman, 84, fulfills her skydiving dream
An elderly lady in Huanggang city, Central China's Hubei province, recently completed an extreme challenge - skydiving from 3,000 meters high from a plane.
The 84-year-old's action not only fulfilled her own dream but also amazed her daughter and many netizens.
Tao Xidi used to play basketball and various other sports when she was young. Even after retiring, she stayed in step with trends and maintained robust physical health.
"I heard someone overseas skydiving at the age of 102. So I thought I could do, too," Tao said.
Besides, watching her daughter's recent bungee jumping video further ignited the spark in her.
Tao's daughter is 63-year-old. Before retiring, the daughter surnamed Guo was a nurse and also an enthusiast of outdoor extreme sports, particularly enjoying activities such as paragliding, bungee jumping and skydiving.
"I'm into extreme sports. I knew that skydiving would not be a problem for my mother considering her good physical condition. So I took her to fulfill this dream," Guo said.
After the staff members at a skydiving base in Jingmen city, Hubei, thoroughly inquired about Tao's medical history, including whether she had high blood pressure, heart disease, or had undergone any surgeries in the past two years, they agreed to let the senior lady do the skydiving.
Before she embarked on this adventure, Tao completed thorough training and preparation.
At about 1,500 meters above the ground, the parachute opened. In the high altitude, Tao remained calm, occasionally waving at the camera.
"I'm so happy I made it," Tao said after she landed on the ground.
According to the workers of the base, Tao was a little nervous just after jumping out of the plane. But as the parachute opened, she was very well, even chatting with the staff members in the air.
"Seeing my mother in good condition, I felt relieved and was very happy that she had fulfilled this wish," Guo said.
