CGN pursues green vision through tech innovation
China General Nuclear Power Group is a world-leading clean energy supplier and service provider. In the three decades since its founding, CGN has produced over 2,900 TWh of clean energy power, making a significant contribution to China's progress toward carbon neutrality.
In the nuclear power sector, CGN showcases robust capabilities. Currently, CGN operates 28 nuclear power units, with an installed capacity of 31.76 GW, representing 55 percent in China, and has 16 units under construction, which will add another 19.4 GW to the grid. In the first half of this year, 90 percent of its operational units met the standards set by the World Association of Nuclear Operators.
These achievements are a result of CGN's relentless pursuit of technological innovation. Its independently developed core technologies, such as the HPR1000 (Hualong One), mark the entry of China's third-generation nuclear power technology onto the international stage. CGN has also made significant breakthroughs in areas such as the nuclear safety DCS platform and intelligent robots for nuclear power plants, ensuring the safe and efficient use of nuclear energy.
CGN has also pioneered innovations in wind and photovoltaic power. Its "Fuxi No 1" wind power-fishery integrated project in Shanwei, Guangdong province, officially began operations on Sept 4, and has become a model for integrating offshore wind power with deep-sea aquaculture.
To continuously promote technological innovation, the group has established a comprehensive research system with three major technology innovation centers, providing solid support for the group's technological innovations.
As of this month, CGN's installed capacity of clean energy has exceeded 110 GW. In the future, it will continue to pursue technological innovation to drive high-quality development in clean energy, contributing to China's green vision.
