Whether stuffed with sweet or savory filling, a mooncake is normally a pastry made of flour. But in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, there is a mooncake which is made of rice and steamed, rather than baked.

The variety was believed to have been invented 800 years ago, named after Wuzhou, the old name of Jinhua.

People visiting the Chinese Traditional Culture Museum during the Mid-Autumn Festival had a taste of such Wu-style steamed rice mooncakes.

Dances, music, pastries and pottery toys representing the different Mid-Autumn customs across the country offered visitors diverse visual experiences and culinary delights.

It's been a norm of Chinese Traditional Culture Museum to offer rich cultural programs at traditional festivals, bringing people pleasing memories and also expanding their knowledge of the folk customs that vary from region to region in an expansive country such as China.
