Guangdong province, an economic powerhouse in South China, will continuously improve the cooperation mechanisms and promote the deep integration and development between the province and Taiwan, according to a provincial government official.

"There will be an acceleration in the transformation and upgrading of Taiwanese-funded enterprises, actively creating new advantages for the high-quality development of Guangdong and Taiwanese enterprises," said Chen Liangxian, a member of the Party Group of the Guangdong provincial government.

Chen made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the 15th Dongguan Taiwan Famous Products Fair, which kicked off on Thursday in Dongguan, a manufacturing and trade center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

"Additionally, active efforts will be made to promote youth exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait," said Chen.

Since its inauguration in 2010, the fair has attracted nearly 3.6 million visitors and facilitated trade amounts totaling 37.25 billion yuan ($5.25 billion) over its 14 editions, becoming a renowned platform for friendly exchanges across the Strait and for Taiwan enterprises to expand their markets, the organizers said.

This year's fair adheres to the positioning of the professional electronics exhibition, focusing on showcasing outstanding products from Taiwanese companies in the fields of 3C electronics, artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing and biotechnology, according to the organizers.

A special pavilion dedicated to AI and semiconductors was established, bringing together a large number of leading exhibitors to showcase industry trends and new technological developments.

"This initiative will effectively promote the deep integration of industrial resources across the Strait, assist Taiwanese enterprises in seizing major opportunities in the AI sector, and drive the deep fusion of technological innovation and advanced manufacturing," said Lv Chengqi, mayor of Dongguan.

This fair, running until Sunday, covers an exhibition area of 36,000 square meters with over 600 participating companies and 3,000 buyers from chain stores, supermarkets and e-commerce platforms.
