The second Cultures of China—Cape Town Dragon Boat Festival, jointly organized by the Cape Town Dragon Boat Association and the Cape Town Chinese community, was held on Saturday in Cape Town, South Africa.

A total of 10 teams participated in the competition, with one team composed of South African Chinese and the other nine teams made up of local citizens, the organizers said.

In addition to the traditional dragon boat races, the event also included activities such as the dragon boat tug of war and onshore dry-land dragon boat experiences.

Along the riverbanks of the dragon boat race course, large feature posters showcasing the cultural characteristics of Foshan, Guangdong province in South China, including lion and dragon dances, pottery sculptures and ancient towns and water villages, were displayed.

Following the gift of a pair of luminous lions in March, the district government of Chancheng, Foshan, once again presented a pair of onshore dry-land dragon boats and several colorful flags to the local community, further promoting cultural exchanges between South Africa and China.
