British professor David G. Evans has dedicated 28 years to working in China since settling in Beijing in 1996. As a distinguished professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, he values his decision to thrive in China and is enjoying his senior years in Beijing.

Evans has spent a lot of time promoting chemistry education through hands-on experiments for children across various Chinese provinces. Understanding the vastness of China and his own limitations, he sought to expand the reach of his science popularization efforts.

To reach a wider audience, Evans utilized the popularity of short video platforms in China by sharing videos of chemistry experiments. His videos gained rapid popularity, amassing over 2 million fans and garnering more than 15 million views for a single video during his initial attempt in 2018.

He also discussed the range of opportunities and lifestyles he has encountered in China compared to his peers in Europe or the US. "I found more opportunities and a more interesting life here," Evans noted.
