China makes splashes at Deaflympics


Chinese athletes topped the medal tally while finishing the second in the gold medal count at the Winter Deaflympics 2024 held in Erzurum, Turkiye till on Monday.
China grabbed seven gold, seven silver and six bronze medals in total from all the competitions they enrolled in the event, which is held every four years for athletes with hearing difficulties and will conclude on Tuesday.
China made several breakthroughs on the snow compared with previous Deaflympics after winning five of the six golds in snowboarding and a historic gold in cross-country skiing. In Alpine skiing, the team accomplished their best ever performance with one fifth place and one sixth place.
The men's curling team won the third gold at the Deaflympics while their female counterparts won the bronze. The debuting mixed curling team finished in fourth.
