Zhejiang's Taizhou ensures grid operation amid extreme cold wave
In response to a series of extreme cold wave conditions, Taizhou in Zhejiang province has initiated its emergency preparation and applied new measures for the safe and reliable operation of the power grid.
Recently, Zhejiang has experienced rare freezing rain and hail, with temperatures persisting below zero in high-altitude mountainous areas, which has even led to frost and rime.
The local power supply units in Taizhou have therefore deployed a range of advanced technological measures to continuously de-ice power lines covered with ice, safeguarding the safety and stability of the lines.
For instance, drones are utilized for wire inspection and de-icing work. Additionally, devices and vehicles are employed to de-ice transmission lines. The method of "drones + visualization + infrared temperature measurement" is also used to closely monitor the temperature of the conductors in the de-icing zones, said State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Co.
The power supplier said it will keep responding to the cold wave and snowy weather in a fast and efficient manner, ensuring a safe and stable supply of electricity during these special weather conditions.
