An immersive exhibition at Panlong Tiandi of Shanghai is showcasing Buddhism and pagoda art in ancient China.

The exhibition will run till March 2024.

Three digital art pieces created by the Harvard FAS CamLab team are on show at the Kaimu Theater in Cheng's Ancestral Hall, a historic building in Shanghai's Panlong Tiandi.

The first piece, named Cave Dance, was inspired by the mural paintings in the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang in Gansu province. Using motion capture technology, professional dancers recreated the dance movements depicted on the walls of the renowned cultural heritage site, where more than 400 Buddhist cave shrines dating from the 5th to 13th century are preserved.
