Taiwan products fair readies for September opening
The 14th Dongguan Taiwan Famous Products Fair, to be held next month in Dongguan, Guangdong province, will strengthen exchanges, cooperation and friendship across the Taiwan Strait and help promote the transformation of enterprises from the island.
The fair, set for Sept 7 to 10, attracts many companies from Taiwan and will help build a common market and promote integrated development with the Chinese mainland, organizers said.
Guangdong, an economic powerhouse, has been a prime destination for investors from Taiwan. Dongguan, a city in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, is one of the earliest mainland cities to attract investment from Taiwan, they said.
The Taiwan Enterprise Association of Dongguan, which has more than 2,700 member companies, is now one of the largest business associations on the mainland.
The fair was organized by the economic bureau of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, Guangdong Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Commerce, the Dongguan city government and the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland.
More than 4,500 officials, experts, scholars and business representatives from the mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao will attend the fair in search of expansion opportunities and cooperation in Dongguan's Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center.
The has attracted nearly 3 million visits and has clinched cooperation intention agreements valued at more than 33.7 billion yuan ($4.81 billion) over the past 13 years.
