Global Tiger Day | Does conservation conflicts community development?
Exploring green development model is a new approach for WWF to mitigate HWC in Amur tiger protected areas. Working closely with local communities in the process, we build mutual trust to understand real needs of various stakeholders. This will contribute to the vision of developing harmonious coexistence between man and nature that is truly suitable for different regions.
A 'curved' path of conservation
Northeast China is a key region for agricultural development, with vast land and good weather for crops. Agriculture here is mainly grain production, making it one of the most important grain bases in China. In addition, animal husbandry is well developed, such as cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. The agricultural and animal husbandry products not only meet local needs, but also supply food nationwide. Meanwhile, as one of the regions with the richest natural resources in China, it also plays a crucial role in biodiversity conservation. Local residents are interdependent with nature for generations.
